New Automated Instrument for Cold Filter Plugging Point Testing

With AirSTAR CFPP, announced by Orbis BV (the Netherlands) during ASTM in San Diego 2014, a new approach to Cold Filter Plugging Point testing has been introduced. 

It is fully compliant with conventional EI and ASTM CFPP methods and equipped with all the control options that are present in similar instruments.  AirSTAR CFPP comes in both a fully automatic version and a new unique semi automatic version that fits into any existing manual or automatic CFPP / Cloud-Pour point cooling bath.

The “no-cables / no hoses” CFPP pod with built-in, microprocessor controlled vacuum pump is wirelessly powered and controlled for easy handling and sample preparation. A laser beam ensures accurate meniscus detection.

Controlled by an iPad Mini, operation is intuitive and easy, while modern data handling options are fully compatible with Windows operated systems.

The semi automatic version comes with an iPad Mini and a docking station for the CFPP pod. It requires an existing CFPP / Cloud-Pour point cooling bath.

The fully automatic version comes with ColdBlock, an integrated liquid free cooling engine with programmable fast cooling capacities down to -105°C /-139°F).

With this new modular approach to cold behavior testing equipment, any future combinations of the ColdBlock, multiple CFPP pods, docking stations and new instruments (yet to be released) can be made.
