New infrared camera opens the door for VGA thermography
Jun 27 2024
Many industrial processes rely heavily on precise and dependable temperature measurements. Optris’ have recently introduced the Xi 640 infrared camera, a new member of its Compact Line, which provides users with reliable, affordable and non-contact temperature measurement in VGA (Video Graphics Array) resolution for industrial applications.
The Xi Compact Line merges the benefits of precision thermal imaging cameras with the advantages of infrared thermometers; with the new, compact Xi 640 VGA model providing operators with comprehensive, non-contact condition monitoring for industrial applications. With an optical resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and a frame rate of 32 Hz in the spectral range of 8-14 µm, the new device can monitor fast thermal processes with temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 900 °C. The Xi 640 features an "Auto spot finder" function; this can be used to monitor temperatures of moving objects with no need to readjust the camera.
The Xi 640 uses a motorised focus for easy and efficient focusing from a distance, as do the other models in the Xi range, which no boasts six models, Image processing is performed using the inclusive PIX Connect software with line scan function. Critical parameters are configured by use of a a USB 2.0 interface, an optional USB-to-GigE converter is also available. The Xi 640 comes with a process interface cable and USB cable as standard. Optris’ new thermal imaging camera is operational in ambient temperatures of between 0 °C and 50 °C. Optris also offer an extensive range of accessories for the camera; this includes an air purge unit and mounting bracket to the water-cooled housing, which enables working in ambient temperatures as high as 250 °C.
The Xi 640, like the other models in the Compact Line, has been developed for the mechanical engineering and OEM sectors. This versatile, flexible and highly accurate compact camera is provides a simple and dependable initiation to VGA thermography for a variety of industrial sectors.
