The petrochemical regulations are becoming stricter and more demanding with lower levels of elemental quantification. The new Thermo Scientific ARL PERFORM’X XRF spectrometer is ideal for these applications in a central laboratory and can provide the most suitable solution for every area in the petrol industry. This spectrometer has been shown to be compliant with various norms such as ASTM D2622, ASTM D4927, ISO 20884 and others, thanks to its high sensitivity and stability in atmospheres such as helium and vacuum.
Recently launched by Thermo Fisher Scientific, the ARL PERFORM’X X-ray fluorescence spectrometer for advanced materials characterization integrates standard elemental analysis capabilities with mapping and small spot analysis to create a solution that offers unmatched versatility and performance for the analysis for solids or liquids.

One such solution is Thermo Scientific ARL PetroilQuant. This is a comprehensive analytical package which covers the widest range of elements and concentrations in a variety of oil industry products. ARL PetroilQuant offers the most cost effective solution for any laboratory dealing with petrochemical products.
In addition, various other elements used as additives in lubricants, residual oils or wear metals need to be analyzed in a typical blending control station or in a central laboratory. ARL PetroilQuant is designed for the analysis of quantifying up to 30 elements in a variety of automotive fuels, lubricants and heavy residual oils both quickly and cost-effectively.
ARL PetroilQuant requires no analytical expertise and provides a "ready to run" analytical package for beginners as well as advanced users of our XRF instruments.
Further refinement or fine tuning for specific elements can always be achieved either in the factory prior to shipment or after installation using customer’s own set of standards.
The ARL PERFORM’X also offers the ultimate in performance and more importantly in the petroleum laboratory - safety. It has been designed with protection in mind when running liquids. The most expensive consumable in any XRF system is the X-ray tube and one spill can cost thousands of dollars in repairs and replacement parts. With the tube-end protection cap, any liquid from a film rupture will fall on the cap and not the tube window resulting in the cap may need replacing but the tube remains intact.
With the standard 50 micron Be tube window light element sensitivity is guaranteed and placing the 15 micron Be end cap over the tube still allows better sensitivity at 65 microns than the industry standard of 75 microns or greater.
An addition option for liquid safety can be provided by adding a Be primary beam filter to the system. This feature allows for protection when wanted and automatically removed for increased light element sensitivity.
The ARL PERFORM’X also contains an exposure time feature in which any sample analyzing for over x minutes will be automatically removed as a safety precaution. For the ultimate in liquid safety, the ARL PERFORM’X comes standard with liquid sample cassette recognition technology insuring that these cassettes with not be run under vacuum. These features help to make the ARL PERFORM’X one of the most versatile and safest XRF systems in the market.
