Endress+Hauser Recognises Innovators

Klaus Eichardt, Analytik Jena’s chief developer in atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), was recognised at this year’s Endress+Hauser (Switzerland) Group Innovators’ Meeting for his years of analytical measuring research excellence at Analytik Jena. Patented back in 1992, Eichardt’s special arrangement for electrothermal atomisation, and for atomic absorption spectroscopy in particular, paved the way for the sale of several thousand Analytik Jena AAS systems around the world. The technology continues to be used in practically all of the company’s AAS systems. At the age of 63, Klaus Eichardt can now look back on 40 years as a trained physicist working in the field of spectroscopy.

As CEO Klaus Berka of Analytik Jena AG expressed it: “The particular recognition of Klaus Eichardt’s work on products that have been a market success fills us with pride and joy. Beginning with the introduction to the market of the AAS Vario 6, signaling a new generation of AAS products in 1998, Analytik Jena has been able to expand worldwide with new distribution structures and increasing recognition of its technology portfolio. This particular innovation made it possible to expand and round out the company’s range of atomic absorption spectroscopy range products.

Analytik Jena has now asserted and registered over 200 patents in Germany and abroad, protecting the company’s expertise in its two core areas of Analytical Instrumentation and Life Science in particular. Spanning a variety of fields and sectors, the Analytik Jena Group has 183 employees around the world working within its research and innovation network.

As part of its annual Innovators’ Meeting, Endress+Hauser honours outstanding researchers and developers and their achievements – from throughout the entire group of companies. This past weekend, the event took place in Muttenz, Switzerland with all 344 group employees, including 15 Analytik Jena employees, invited to attend who were involved in registering patents in 2014. Prizes are awarded for patents of particular economic importance.
