Detailed Hydrocarbon Analysis (DHA) of certified reference materials
Sep 18 2015
The demands for regulatory compliance, optimisation of production capacity, quality and productivity is a major subject for laboratory managers and operators. In a range of (petro)chemical products like crude oils, feedstock and fuels detailed hydrocarbon analysis (DHA) is conducted to provide crucial information on the molecular composition of the products. A crucial factor for accurate analysis is calibration, which requires high end CRM’s.
There are thousands of hydrocarbon compounds which all have their own molecular and elemental composition. A base DHA analysis supplies the information for over 200 key hydrocarbons present in a wide variety of product matrixes; from crude, through intermediate products to final/end products. The development of DHA certified reference materials requires adequate experience as well as suitable chromatography software. The DHA kit enables operators to gain crucial information on their products as well as maintaining the highest standard of operation, such as ISO 17025.
Those interested in DHA can find DCG Partnership on Stand 78 at PEFTEC 2015.
Analytical tests related to DHA;
- ASTM D6729: Individual components in spark ignition fuels by high resolution GC
- ASTM D6730: Individual components in spark ignition fuels by pre-column) high resolution GC
- ASTM D6733: Individual components in spark ignition fuels by capillary high resolution GC
- Other hydrocarbon analysis using GC, GC/MS and ICP/MS techniques
