Unsurpassed Flash Point Analysis
Oct 26 2017
There are many different parameters that play a vital role in monitoring, enhancing and controlling different processes.
Nowadays pipeline operators have in focus the minimisation of so called transmix. Transmix is a mixture of already refined (often final) products that form when subsequently transported in pipelines. Transmix is typically a combination of gasoline, kerosene, diesel and/or domestic heating oil. Due to the fact that transmix needs to be re-processed usually by means of distillation followed by further upgrading processes to produce final products, pipeline operators want to minimise the amount of transmix which also reduces much needed tank space. The principal measurement needed to minimise the quantity of transmix is to closely monitor what kind of product is in the pipeline and to pump it into the corresponding on-spec tank for as long as possible.
One of the parameters that allows qualification of the product in the pipeline is its flashpoint temperature. A proven technology for such a critical measurement is BARTEC BENKE’s FPA-4 Flash Point Process Analyser.
BARTEC BENKE’s well-established Flash Point Analyser remains the best solution to continuously measure the flashpoint of kerosene, diesel and other low sulphur refined products.
Operators have always been full of praise for the FPA-4’s minimized lag time made possible by improved design to achieve a fast response times. The FPA-4 can continuously measure flash point temperature, thus facilitating a rapid detection of flashpoint temperature trend. Bartec have incorporated these features to make the FPA-4 Flash Point Process Analyser the best choice for transmix applications.
The implemented technology prevents the measuring cell from coking so there are very low maintenance requirements. In addition, the available network and fieldbus communication make the FPA-4 Analyser ideal for remote or unmanned stations. The extended measurement range up to 356°F (180°C) also covers applications with a high flashpoint temperature, such as biodiesel.
You can discover more about the FPA-4 and Bartec’s other process solutions at the upcoming PEFTEC Exhibition (Stand 77) in Antwerp from November 29th -30th .
