Dependable, low maintenance and cost-effective CO2 analyser measures carbon dioxide in natural gas pipelines, biogas plants and landfills

As organisations strive to comply with environmental legislation and reduce their carbon footprint, it becomes more important for them to monitor and measure carbon dioxide emissions with precision. KECO’s CarbonHound CO2 Gas Analyser is a reliable, cost-effective, and low-maintenance instrument designed and developed to detect and measure CO2 in natural gas pipelines, biogas plants, and landfills.

The CarbonHound CO2 Gas Analyser is an online process analyser that offers outstanding performance in chemical and biogas plants, gas processing facilities, and the landfill sector, where precise carbon dioxide measurement is vital for quality and process controls. This microprocessor-based analyser provides continuous, real-time quantification of carbon dioxide levels in sample streams using a non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) measurement method.

Featuring an infrared detection element, the CarbonHound delivers an output proportional to the concentration of CO2 once introduced to a sample. The signal can be digitised as a 4-20 mA output, relay alarms, RS-485, or TCP/IP Ethernet connection enables seamless integration with different process control systems. The analyser's large colour HMI touch screen with LCD display provides a user-friendly interface, providing essential information such as current and previous readings, alarm conditions, historical and real-time charts, procedure prompts, and failure indicators.

Safety and reliability are crucial and the CarbonHound is designed to operate in hazardous locations; it is built specifically for use in Division 2 and Zone 2 environments. In addition, the analyser is available in an outdoor weathering packaging, ensuring its durability and unfettered performance in many different conditions. The wetted parts of the analyser are nonreactive when in contact with the process stream, further enhancing its suitability for various applications.

One of the standout features of the CarbonHound analyser is its low maintenance requirements. With a solid-state design, it only needs calibration once a month or even less frequently, thus saving valuable time and resources. To further enhance its capabilities, the analyser can be configured with a sample system suitable for LPG, LNG, or gases entrained with light liquids. Additionally, optional accessories such as an H2S scrubber and fugitive emission control unit for venting are available, offering a comprehensive gas analysis solution.

The CarbonHound analyser offers outstanding accuracy and repeatability, with a range of +3% of full scale and a resolution of 0.01% for readings up to 10% volume. This level of precision makes it an extremely effective and reliable method for measuring carbon dioxide in natural gas pipelines, biogas plants, and landfills.
