Performance Verification of Flash Point Analysers According to International Standards

The PAC/Herzog Optiflash is an excellent example of an automated device for determination of the flash point of petroleum products. It is a crucial test for several oil products each according a specific standard and test method. Well known standard methods are Pensky Martens Open Cup (ASTM D93) for fuels and bio diesel, Cleveland Open Cup (ASTM D92) for lubricants and bitumen, TAG (ASTM D56) and Abel (IP 170).

The procedures also describe a calibration and adjustment of the pressure sensor and verification of the heating time. Most procedures require a verification of the stirring rate as well. After the verification is completed, the system will be checked with a Certified Reference Material and a verification certificate according ISO 17025 will granted.
