Sulphur Analysis
Versatile, cost-effective solutions for petroleum analysis applications
Apr 07 2022
Rigaku benchtop EDXRF (energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence) and process elemental analysers offer users flexibility and affordability for a broad range of petroleum analysis applications. They provide an unmatched price/performance ratio, serve many screening and monitoring needs, and meet compliance with multiple testing methods and standards.
EDXRF benchtop solutions for sulphur and other elements
Rigaku EDXRF benchtop systems include the compact NEX QC Series for routine quality control needs, the advanced NEX DE for more demanding applications, and the powerful NEX CG II indirect excitation analyser for complex applications and research. With multi-element capabilities, users can measure sulphur, chlorine, metals, and more.
NEX QC Series analysers combine superior performance capabilities with affordability. They are lightweight, portable, and do not require an external PC. The intuitive touchscreen interface and built-in printer make these instruments easy to use and convenient. Whether on the plant floor or in remote field environments, these analysers are well-suited for measuring sulphur in oils per ASTM D4294, sulphur in crude, bunker fuel, and other petroleum-related applications. NEX QC Series analysers also offer compliance with ISO 13032 for ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) and lead in gasoline per ASTM D5059.
NEX DE is a high-performance benchtop that provides versatility and helps users ensure compliance. It is an ideal tool for quick ASTM D8252-19 compliance of nickel and vanadium — for measuring chlorine per ASTM D4929 Part C — and more. NEX DE is specially designed for rapid elemental analysis. Users can quickly analyze sulphur, vanadium, iron, and nickel in crude, residual oil, bunker fuels, and other heavy hydrocarbon oils.
All-in-one petroleum analysers provides multi-element versatility and low limits of detection
NEX CG II is Rigaku’s highly versatile all-in-one petroleum analyser offering fast, reliable measuring and monitoring for ultra-low sulphur applications and so much more. It provides exceptional performance for ASTM and international compliance to test ULSD and meet Tier 3 gasoline requirements per ASTM D7220. Users can reliably analyse for manganese in MoGas (motor gasoline) and AvGas (aviation gasoline) at low and ultra-low levels per ASTM D5059 Part D and easily meet ASTM D5059 Parts C and A compliance using the Bi internal standard method to measure lead in gasoline samples. NEX CG II also delivers the lowest chlorine detection limits for ASTM D4929 compliance using Part C methodology.
Process control solutions for on-line, real-time elemental analysis
Rigaku offers the NEX XT total sulphur process gauge and the NEX OL process EDXRF analyser for real-time process control needs.
NEX XT is the next generation process gauge for high-level total sulphur measurement (0.02% to 6% S) of crude, bunker fuel, fuel oils, and other highly viscous hydrocarbons, including residuums. This versatile, compact, and robust X-ray transmission/absorption (XRT/XRA) process gauge is specifically optimized for the total sulphur analysis needs of refineries, pipelines, blending operations, and bunkering terminals.
Featuring advanced third-generation EDXRF technology, NEX OL represents the next evolution of process elemental analysis for liquid stream applications. NEX OL is configurable for use in classified and non-classified areas and can analyze from aluminum to uranium. It is ideal for monitoring cobalt, manganese, and bromine catalysts in PTA and catalyst in liquid streams.
