Bringing Real Time Data Analysis to Closed Loop Processes
Jun 19 2014
In an industry first, the new SERVOTOUGH SpectraScan from Servomex (UK) revolutionises data analysis for closed loop environments such as polyethylene production, providing operators with real-time data that enables them to achieve unprecedented process efficiency.
Until now, traditional technologies for monitoring the re-cycle feed have been slow and high maintenance, but with the advent of fast analysis provided by the SpectraScan, operators are able to make more dynamic process control adjustments for even greater process efficiency.
With improved speed of response a long-identified request of HP operators, the SpectraScan’s all-optical sensing technology, based on infrared absorption, provides analysis in seconds rather than minutes, as well as simplifying sampling for a true on-line or in-line solution. At the same time, by negating the need for a carrier gas both the infrastructure requirements and operating costs are reduced. This makes the SERVOTOUGH SpectraScan a viable new alternative to gas chromatograph (GC) and process gas chromatograph (PGC) analysers.
David Fahle, VP marketing for Hydrocarbon Processing, Servomex, said: “The significance of providing HP operators stable, repeatable and fast data is an industry first and should not be underestimated: We achieved this by listening to our customers and introducing an alternative technology which rivals the gas analysis techniques traditionally used in closed-loop applications. And not only does SpectraScan deliver process-led cost savings, it is considerably less expensive to both install and maintain, providing an unparalleled return on investment.”
