Introducing the New UF2 Series of Intrinsically Safe Optical Level Sensors

EGE-Elektronik has announced the launch of the revised UF2 series of intrinsically safe optical level sensors, now with ATEX/IECEx approval for use in Zone 0 environments.
These innovative sensors utilize an optical measuring principle that operates independently of the liquid's dielectric constant or conductivity. This advantage distinguishes them from traditional conductive, capacitive, or microwave-based level controllers, which often struggle to detect liquids with low dielectric constants.
The UF2 optical sensors excel at accurately detecting a variety of media, including many hydrocarbon compounds, solvents, and oils, making them ideal for applications involving kerosene and gasoline.
Constructed with a durable glass tip and a robust 1.4571 stainless steel casing, the improved series offers a range of process interfaces, including G-thread, NPT thread, cutting ring fittings, tri-clamp, or flange options.
Electrical connections can be made via M12 connectors, cables, or clamping space, depending on the model. Additionally, customers have the flexibility to specify the desired sensor and cable lengths for a tailored configuration.
These level sensors are designed for operation with the IKMb 123 Ex series evaluation device for DIN rail mounting, which provides a relay/changeover output and can be powered by 24 V DC, 115 V AC, or 230 V AC, depending on the model.
The UF2 series will be premiered at the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany, 12-14 November 2024, Hall 7A, Booth 111.
