New GC for Analysis of Hydrocarbons in Ambient Air
Apr 26 2016
A new Falcon Analytical (USA) ultrafast gas chromatograph model, “CALIDUS GS”, provides sensitive, selective, economical and practical environmental analyses for hydrocarbons in ambient air.
The new CALIDUS GS (gas sampling) model is designed for measuring environmental gas samples such as ambient greenhouse air, stack gas, process ventilation, tank car head space and other low pressure applications.
The GS is specifically designed for gas samples less than 10 psi to moderately below ambient pressure. The new GC system has many features that support these applications, including: splitless injection design, onboard gas sample pump, large sample capacity up to 1ml+, FID, DBD and FPD detectors, sub ppm level TNMHC* measurements, and SF6** measurements at ppt level.
Also, the GS model’s onboard gas sample pump provides several important automatic functions. The pump automatically activates at the beginning of the run, loads the gas sample loop and provides sample shutoff with atmospheric pressure reference before each injection.
The new GS design includes Falcon’s patented resistively heated column module. The fast cycling column module enables analyses 3 to 50 times faster than traditional GCs in a wide range of gas applications.
Falcon’s patented modular GC design, with user replaceable column and detector modules, along with the system’s reduced switching valves and integrity checking routines programmed on-board, combine to make the CALIDUS GS a very reliable, practical, economical and low-maintenance analyser.
Despite a sturdy, 1/8” gauge aluminum housing, the GS model only weighs about 25 lbs. and measures just 17" wide by 8.5" deep by 11" high (43 cm W X 21.5 cm D X 27.9 cm H, Wt. 11.3 kg).
The CALIDUS GS is well-suited for fixed base or transportable environmental measurements, including: fence line monitoring, fugitive emissions, automobile exhaust, ozone precursor, and many other gas analyses.
