Measurement and Testing
The Industry Standard for Portable Density Measurement – ASTM D7777
Jun 15 2016
On-site density measurement with DMA 35 Ex Petrol
Portable density meters from Anton Paar have been used for the on-site measurement of petroleum samples for decades – in refineries, fuel terminals and storage depots, offshore sites and pipeline divisions. Replacing traditional methods like glass hydrometers, the digital instrument saves time and enables perfect traceability and documentation by storing results at the push of a button. Let DMA 35 Ex Petrol save you the way to the lab - by doing quick quality checks directly in the field.
The standard: Full ASTM compliance
The ASTM Standard 'D7777-13' describes the 'Test Method for Density, Relative Density, or API Gravity of Liquid Petroleum by Portable Digital Density Meter' with a minimum requirement of 0.001 g/cm3 regarding the instrument's accuracy. As a result of this new standard, the portable digital density meter DMA 35 Ex Petrol from Anton Paar has become an officially accepted field method, providing much more measuring comfort and robustness than glass hydrometers.
Be on the safe side: Ex certification
In the context of the ASTM D7777-13, you are advised to use an intrinsically safe instrument in hazardous measuring environments. DMA 35 Ex Petrol has an Ex marking II 2 G Ex ib IIC T4 – so you are on the safe side.
Designed for petroleum applications
All wetted parts as well as the special housing of the instrument are resistant to petroleum samples and similar solvents. Its leak-proof sealed housing is safe against humidity and spills and makes DMA 35 Ex Petrol suitable for harsh industrial and field conditions. An optional elongated filling tube enables you to take samples from tanks and drums.
The result is displayed in the unit of your choice: API SG, API Gravity and API Density for product groups A, B and D (crude oils, fuels and lubricants), compensated to 15°C, 20°C, 29.5°C or 60°F. All of these are available by default on the instrument.
Full traceability of your results
The integrated RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) interface enables you to quickly identify your samples using RFID-tags. After finalisation of your tests, you can transfer the results completely wireless to a PC or printer via IrDA.
