Optimal Consumption Control in Battery Tanks

Jan 14 2009

The new TankControl 01ZT Level Indicator from Afriso-Euro-Index (Germany) is designed for the continuous level measurement and the reporting of level differences in interconnected fuel oil and diesel tanks (e.g. battery tanks) with heights from 0.9 to max. 3 m.

The measuring system consists of the evaluation unit with graphic display as well as two submersible sensing probes. The indication for probe No.1 can be selected to be either in litres, m3, % or liquid height (mm). When a pre-selected and fully adjustable minimum or maximum liquid level is reached, a visual and audible alarm (with built-in mute facility) is given by the evaluation unit. The indication for probe No. 2 is in mm. When a pre-selected adjustable level difference between probe No.1 and probe No.2 is reached, an alarm signal is also initiated. This will show up a possible faulty or suspect interconnection between the battery tanks and reduces considerably the risk of overfilling a tank, which is still full (with no high level sensor fitted).

The liquid levels in the tanks are measured daily, memorized and converted. This facilitates an excellent check on levels of consumption. The consumption history can be displayed over a period of up to 5 years. The graphic display gives a quick, easy-to-read overview of consumption, tank contents and an estimated forward fuel coverage of the existing fuel stock. Commissioning of the instrument is simple and quick with menu-guided instructions. The hydrostatic Level Indicator TankControl 01ZT requires a 230 V AC supply; two change-over relays are incorporated for further switching functions or for connection
to remote event reporting systems such as Afriso EMS 220 or EMS 442.
