Lubricant Analysis
ASTM International releases "Standard Guides and Practices that Support the Lubricant Condition Monitoring Industry"
Feb 14 2023
ASTM International’s D02 Subcommittees CS96 and C are proud to announce the release of a new book of Selected Technical Papers (STPs) titled "Standard Guides and Practices that Support the Lubricant Condition Monitoring Industry." The STP features presentations delivered at the recent symposium of the same name, held on June 26-27, 2022 in Seattle, Washington, USA.
Over the past decade, the lubricant condition monitoring industry has seen significant advancements in areas such as instrumentation, lubricant formulation, data analytics & delivery, software, and asset management. The goal of this STP is to help end-users achieve lubrication excellence within their facility by guiding them through the entire process of lubricant analysis, from sampling best practices to the most advanced analysis techniques available today.
The STP includes a variety of innovative topics designed to help end-users obtain high-quality test data to support their lubricant condition monitoring programs and make informed maintenance decisions. The most important aspect of lubricant condition monitoring lies in the proper measurement and analysis of data, and this STP is designed to help end-users achieve just that.
ASTM International Releases Supplement to Book on Corrosion Tests and Standards
ASTM International have recently released a supplement to its book, Corrosion Tests and Standards: Application and Interpretation, Second Edition, addressing updates in the technology aimed at addressing corrosion, a problem of worldwide significance that costs approximately 3% of a country's GDP where data is available.
This supplement has been prepared to address updates to the technology that addresses this form of degradation.
The editor and section editors have coordinated this update so that the most recent technologies are included in each section. In some cases, the original authors of chapters have made the revisions. In other cases, new authors have been chosen, or the editors performed that task. In still other cases, the technology described in the chapters has not changed sufficiently since the last edition for those chapters to need updating, in which cases those chapters have not been included in this supplement.
Users of the manual will find that chapters in this supplement an invaluable and instructive tool, as well as a sourcebook on how to conduct corrosion tests, interpret results, and use standards.
The Supplement on Corrosion Tests and Standards: Application and Interpretation, Second Edition is now available for purchase through ASTM International.
