Tank Storage Asia 2016 Breaks All Records
Oct 27 2016
Tank Storage Asia 2016 recorded its highest ever visitor numbers, reaffirming its position as the leading event for the Asian bulk liquid storage industry. 1,595 attendees, a 24 per cent increase on last year, headed to The Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, on 27 & 28 September, to network and do business.
Nick Powell, StocExpo & Tank Storage Portfolio Event Director, commented: “We have been blown away by the success of this year’s show. Every year we set out very clear goals of where we want to be next year, and once again we have exceeded these expectations. Increasing visitor numbers on this scale is fantastic, but importantly we did this while also ensuring that the quality of visitors remained very high. This is reflected by the level of business completed live at the show. Senior decision-makers, terminal operators, oil companies, traders, regulators and major suppliers from up and down the supply chain, travelled from over 35 countries to meet at Tank Storage Asia.”
Visitors to the show included Shell Eastern Petroleum, Vopak Asia, Chevron International Products, Exxon Mobil and Stolthaven Singapore. Steven Cheong Lian, Supply Chain Management Consultant at Wallies Services, also visiting, said: “This event came at the right time for Asia as there are a lot of opportunities here, and everyone seems to have a big focus on storage at the moment. It was a really good exhibition, the conference had some great topics and had been organised very well.”
Tank Storage Asia 2016 featured its strongest ever conference lineup, with 20 global experts taking to the stage to discuss everything from storage demand in Asia and tank storage risks, through to the challenges of developing ports and health and safety. Commenting on the conference programme, Haziq Zulhilmi Zamri, Business Development – Crude at Petco Trading Labuan Company, stated: “The event was indeed comprehensive, as it provided us with an opportunity to network with a wide array of people from the technical and the commercial side. The conference included business experts that provided a clear direction in the development and trends of storage facilities in Asia. In addition, the networking session enabled us to meet potential business counterparts for future collaborations.”
Fellow delegate, David Attewill, CEO of Philippine Coastal Storage and Pipeline Corporation agreed: “Thank you Tank Storage Asia for an informative conference and exhibition. This annual event is highly regarded, allowing the storage industry leaders to get together to network and be informed on future developments and trends in the industry. See you next year!”
Equally keen to return, record numbers of exhibitors rebooked their stands onsite for 2017, with over 63 per cent signing up for next year’s show onsite at the trade fair. Emma Ardley-Batt, Global Marketing Manager at Emco Wheaton, explains why Tank Storage Asia is a must attend event for them: “We like to come along to this show because we get to meet lots of people that we don’t necessarily have the opportunity to meet in other parts of the world. We also know that Singapore and the Asia Pacific region is really big on LNG at the moment and that’s very important to us, we’ve got a number of products coming out working those markets so that’s why we are here.”
Tanks Storage Asia’s strength as a launch-pad for new products is a key part of its success. More than 75 exhibitors presented their latest products and services, with the 2016 event featuring over 50 new product launches. New products to market included BIOex launching its new formula, Ecopol F3 HC; Timm Elektronik unveiling its new Marine Grounding System, SEK-3; Acez debuting its new Multi Gas Clip Infrared; and Loadtec Engineered Systems presenting its new servicing company the Loadtec Service.
Exhibitor, Iain Mitchison, Product Development Engineer at Techflow Marine, commented: “Singapore, and Asia in general, historically have always been Techflow Marine’s biggest market place and Tank Storage Asia gives us the opportunity to meet people, meet clients and discover potential markets that we’ve never been involved with, so it’s a perfect platform to meet these guys.”
The next edition of Tank Storage Asia takes place from 27 & 28 September 2017 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, to find out more about attending or exhibiting visit www.tankstorageasia.com.
