A new controller for complex gas detection systems

Major commercial and industrial applications pose special challenges for any safety system. If you need to monitor the lower explosion limits of combustible gases and vapors, observe the toxic gases’ threshold values or check the oxygen concentration in spacious or branching facilities with dozens of measuring points, there is only one high-end solution worth considering.

When the “standard” isn’t good enough

The GMA400 is raising the bar for the gas detection industry. You can use this single controller to manage up to 128 transmitters (or measuring channels). A further 32 virtual transmitters can be parameterized to monitor environmental influences or long-term measurements.

It also comes with eight internal relays that be programmed individually to trigger safety measures. Using external relay and display modules, this number can be increased to up to 200 to meet the requirements of complex applications.

Modern equipment for the challenges of tomorrow

The GMA400 communicates via a digital RS485 interface (Modbus) or the analog 4-20mA industry standard. It is also ACDC capable. Its internal ethernet interface can not only be used to integrate the GMA400 into larger systems, but will also give you password protected web access, which means all safety relevant data is available to you wherever and whenever you need it.

All relevant information at a glance

For inspections on site, the GMA400 offers a 2.4’’ color display, indicating all information in a clear and coherent manner. You can adjust the display according to your needs, making it indicate an overview of individual measured values, transmitter groups (for example on a room-by-room basis), or the status of all monitored measuring points at once. This way, you will be able to access both the exact, detailed information and long-term measured values of individual transmitters as well as a quick overview of the entire gas detection system.

Mounting and add-on possibilities

The controller was designed for DIN rain mounting, as it is usually installed in a control cabinet which can also house any potential GfG relay modules connected to it (up to 8 GMA200-RT/D / 16 relays each). Up to 16 display modules can be installed on important control points of each GMA400. They feature a display, buttons for alarm acknowledgements and four relays each. For an even better overview of all measuring points, you can use one of GfG’s TFT visualization PCs. The displays could, for example, be mounted in control rooms and then be operated using touch controls.

Our newest controller can operate with any combination of GfG transmitters without any restrictions based on the measuring principle, the measured gases or Ex zones. Choose from a wide selection of transmitters and sensors that suit your company’s requirements and match the gases you need to monitor. We are happy to assist you in planning your gas detection system every step of the way, from first commissioning it to regular maintenance. Contact us for a free consultation.
