As the blending of crude oils becomes more commonplace in the effort to meet specifications for the classification of sweet crude, challenges are arising such as higher concentrations of nickel (Ni), vanadium (V), and iron (Fe). These metals can cause problems in crude oil that may lead to downtime, delays, or unexpected expenses to the refinery. As such, a rapid measurement solution for these metals, in addition to sulfur comliance for D4294 and ISO 8754, is imperative to meet the needs of petroleum certification sites.

Petra MAX™ delivers advanced analyses for sulfur, nickel, vanadium, and iron - plus nine other elements - through the use of HDXRF® (High Definition X-ray Fluorescence). To demonstrate Petra MAX’s capabilities, several studies were conducted; the findings of which show that this analyser performs simultaneous analyses on samples containing the aforementioned elements with ease, precision, and accuracy.
