2 New PED's Added to Range of Radiation Monitors
Feb 03 2015
In an effort to enhance its family of Personal Electronic Dosimeters (PEDs), industrial technology specialist Tracerco (UK) has released the PED+ and PED Blue devices to accompany the original PED-IS.
The two new devices add to the company’s already impressive collection of radiation monitors. This means they can now offer a solution no matter the radiation monitoring need.
Speaking of the new releases, Andy Hurst, Managing Director of Tracerco, acknowledged: "We invest heavily in research and development and are broadening our product portfolio to meet market demands. Our ethos of working with our customers to generate reliable, highly accurate solutions to their measurement problems is at the heart of our organisation.”
The PED+, PED Blue and PED-IS are all designed to work effectively even in extreme weather conditions. The fact that the gadgets have accreditation to ISO9001:2008 and EN80079-34 international standards mean that they make for standard and intrinsically safe instrumentation in a variety of environments too.
Mr Hurst continued: "What we have achieved through good design and consideration for the users of the device, is a family of Personal Dosimeters with mass market appeal globally. The real selling point of our monitors is that they are easy to use and understand."
As well as these similarities, all three devices have unique features. Here’s a look at each of Tracerco’s PEDs in more detail:
PED-IS
The original Personal Electronic Dosimeter from Tracerco, the PED-IS uses intuitive software in DoseVision™ so that even those not specially training in measuring radiation measurement can achieve success with the device.
Those working for emergency services and people plying their trade in nuclear, mining and oil and gas industries will particularly benefit from the PED-IS. This is because the device can measure radiation exposure within potentially explosive environments.
PED+
One standout feature of the PED+ is that it can be used as a handheld dose rate survey meter.
In fact, the off-body mode of the device enables users to accurately measure activity via a live trend graph, with logged data that can be reviewed via DoseVision software.
Those who work in environments where they need to set up a safe exclusion zone after an incident will also be pleased to hear the PED+ comes with an alarm and pop-up message system. This enables such procedures to be communicated and established clearly and easily.
PED Blue
While the PED Blue is made up of the same unique user interface seen in the PED-IS, the gadget is ten per cent lighter than its predecessor.
The PED Blue is a portable device too, and can be charged simply by using a direct micro USB connection.
Just like the other two PEDs from Tracerco, the PED Blue makes use of DoseVision software. However, the device has been aimed at aiding first responders and those working in non-destructing testing; medical and life sciences and industrial and nuclear environments with their day-to-day tasks.
"This new range of monitors will allow monitoring activities to be undertaken across a broad range of environments safely, easily and accurately. It is another example of Tracerco listening to the market and developing products that meet industry needs,” Mr Hurst concluded.
