New Crude Oil Sampler
Jun 11 2010
A new design of electric motor powered crude oil sampler has been delivered to the Middle East for installation on Jetty Sampling systems by Maurer Instruments (UK).
The proven three-step action of the sampling head namely the - sample isolation , pump to receiver and retract to start position sequence is characteristic of the original Maurer Samplers developed in conjunction with BP Exploration in 1982 is retained in the new sampler.
The use of a bevel gear box has allowed the motor to be concentrically mounted with the main sampling cell section to yield a compact system and avoid the problems associated with a cantilevered motor configuration. A feature of the Maurer design permits the unit to be split into easily serviced sections that can be removed from the flanged cell without having to break and open the pipe lin.
The motor controller has a facility for spot sampling which can be initiated remotely or locally to the sampler in addition to the separately controlled time or flow proportional sampling modes. The complete unit which is powered by 200/240 VAC 50/60 Hz single phase is ATEX approved for use in hazardous areas.
Designed for full ANSI Class 300 operation, the sampling rate is variable to a maximum of 15 grabs /minute. Once again the Maurer Engineering has once again produced a superb instrument that like its predecessors the Pneumatic and Hydraulic Samplers is designed to give decades of proven continuous reliable operation.
Maurer Instruments Ltd has also recently obtained PED approval for their range of Constant Pressure Receiers and Piston Internal Mixing Receivers ( PIMR’s)
Maurer Instruments philosophy has always been to design and manufacture its products to a high standard than down to a low price. As a consequence Maurer built flowmeters and samplers are still running reliably after more than four decades of continuous operation.
