Electric Motor Driven Crude Oil Samplers for Russia
Nov 07 2011
The superbly engineered range of ATEX Approved Electric Motor Driven Crude Oil Samplers by Maurer Instruments (UK) have been awarded R GOST approval for use in Crude Oil Sampling Systems for Fiscal applications in Russia and the CIS. The mechanical design allows for models to handle full ANSI Class 900 operation.
As a result Maurer Instruments have been awarded major contracts to supply both In-Line Insertion and Fast loop Cell samplers for use on Crude and Product lines on the Russian Oil Distribution Pipeline Complex.
For one particular application the Samplers were manufactured from Super Duplex Stainless Steel to withstand corrosion by the extremely high saline laden crudes. Maurer also developed a new range of special purpose high pressure corrosion resistant pumping seals for these samplers.
The electric motor driven samplers employ the original decades long service proven three-step action of the sampling head namely: - sample isolation, pump to receiver and retract to the start position sequence. This highly accurate positive displacement action was developed by Maurer in conjunction with BP Exploration in 1982
The use of a bevel gear box has allowed the motor to be co-axially mounted with the main sampling cell section to yield a compact system thus avoiding the problems associated with a cantilevered motor configuration. This system also allows for the mounting of heated enclosures to surround the Sampler top works.
The motor controller has a push button switch facility for Spot Sampling which can be initiated remotely or locally to the sampler in addition to the separately controlled time or flow proportional sampling modes. The complete unit which is powered by 200/240 VAC 50/60 Hz single phase is ATEX approved for use in hazardous areas.
Maurer Instruments relentlessly pursue the philosophy to design and manufacture its products to the high standard rather than down to a low price. As a consequence Maurer built Samplers, Turbine Flowmeters and Piston Type Flow Calibrators are still in active service after more than four decades of continuous operation.
