Measurement and testing
Continuous monitoring of hydrogen flux
Jun 15 2009
Ion Science (UK) is pleased to announce the launch of Hydrosteel 7000 Transportable.
Non-intrusive, Hydrosteel 7000 Transportable enables continuous monitoring of hydrogen flux, wherever, and whenever it is needed, to identify and confirm control of corrosion and hydrogen crack risk. Simple to install and maintain, the new battery powered corrosion monitor requires no wiring, with each battery charge lasting up to nine months. Hydrosteel 7000Transportable is useable on hot, cold, curved and flat surfaces, and benefits from easy data manipulation.
Hydrosteel flux measurements provide a real time indication of active sour, HF, cyanidic ammonium bisulfide, and high temperature corrosion, as well as hydrogen cracking risk, and bakeout hydrogen, simply and non-intrusively. The Hydrosteel 7000 Transportable delivers these measurements continuously, thereby identifying the causes, and confirming the mitigation and control of variable corrosion which causes hydrogen flux. In one application, the Transportable is able to monitor on an hourly basis enabling the cost to plant integrity of a particular crude blend and process regime in the atmospheric and vacuum distillation units. In another, the instrument is used to confirm the absence of hydrogen flux in critical equipment subject to sporadic sour induced hydrogen damage. In another application, the equipment informs on the carry over of catalyst outside its intended process loop within an alkylation unit.Other application sites include sour gas lines, amine treatment plants, and all sour overhead lines. In short, the Hydrosteel 7000 Transportable provides total flexibility in monitoring flux wherever, and whenever it is needed.
