New Thermal Imagers Offer Low Cost Rapid Problem Detection

Mar 19 2008

Fluke (The Netherlands) has introduced the high-performance Fluke Ti25 and Fluke Ti10 Thermal Imagers, designed to make thermal imaging affordable and effective for day-to-day troubleshooting and maintenance tasks. Both models incorporate IR Fusion®, a patent-pending technology that integrates infrared and visual (visible light) images in full screen or picture-in-picture views for enhanced problem detection and analysis. Built to withstand harsh work environments, the new thermal imagers are designed as a complete, effective and easy-to-use thermal imaging solution for everyday troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical installations, electromechanical and process equipment, HVAC/R units and other industrial and electrical equipment.
The Ti25 and Ti10 feature a three-button menu designed for intuitive operation and navigation with the push of a thumb, the ability to record and save voice comments with every image taken (Ti25 only), and on-screen emissivity correction (Ti25 only). With a widescreen full colour LCD display, optimised thermal sensitivity, and a temperature measurement range of -20°C to +350°C for the Ti25 and -20°C to +250°C for the Ti10, the thermal imagers are suitable for most industrial,
electrical and commercial applications, allowing users to operate from a safe distance and still see small temperature differences. Designed following Fluke’s reputation for rugged reliable tools, they are tested to withstand a drop of 2 metres and are therefore ideal to survive field operation in a harsh industrial environment. The new units have an IP54 rating to withstand water and dust.
Fluke SmartViewâ„¢ software (with free software upgrades for the life of the product) is included with each thermal imager. A modular suite of tools for viewing, annotating, editing and analysing infrared images,
SmartView software fully supports Fluke IR-Fusion® technology, enabling users to edit images in five viewing modes and generate customised, professional-looking reports in a few steps.
IR-Fusion uses a unique image correction method to exactly overlay the visual and thermal image on top of each other, independent of the measurement distance. This makes it easier to identify details and potential problems by managing and analysing images with complete control over both the infrared and visual (visible light) spectrums. The ability to fuse images on-camera and optimise images in real-time improves primary target identification, enhances issue locating efficiency and offers a tremendous advantage in reporting clarity.
Both the Ti10 and Ti25 Thermal Imagers include a 2GB SD memory card that will store at least 3,000 basic infrared images (.bmp file format) or 1,200 fully radiometric (.is2 IR Fusion® file format) infrared and linked visual images each with 60 seconds of voice annotation (Ti25 only), as well as an SD card reader (USB) for downloading images into a computer. A durable lens cover protects the unit when not in use and is firmly stored during operation to avoid interference while images are taken. They come with a rugged hard carry case and a soft transport bag, an adjustable hand strap for right- or left-handed use, a rechargeable internal battery and AC power supply/battery charger (including mains adapters).
