Portable Thermal Imaging Cameras for Scientific R&D

FLIR Systems (France) announces the launch of SC650 andSC450 thermal imaging camera packs for scientific research and development.

Delivering the highest sensitivity and most advanced features available on a portable thermal imaging camera - the FLIR SC650 / SC450 packs offer users the no-compromise flexibility of an R&D grade camera they can take from experiment to experiment. Included as standard in all FLIR SC650 / SC450 thermal imaging camera packs is ResearchIR software which allows high speed recording, advanced thermal pattern analysis and users to make the most of their new thermal imaging camera.

Using a maintenance-free uncooled Vanadium Oxide (VoX) micro¬bolometer detector the FLIR SC650 camera generates crisp and clear 640 x 480 pixel images that are easy to interpret, resulting in reliable results with higher accuracy. The FLIR SC650 allows you to see temperature differences as small as 0.03°C at 30°C with an accuracy of +/-1ºC or +/- 1% of reading. For researchers that do not need this high image quality they can instead choose the SC450 pack that includes a FLIR SC450 camera that generates 320 x 240 pixel thermal images. The FLIR SC650 measures temperature up to +2,000 °C and the FLIR SC450 up to +1,500 °C. Both the SC650 and SC450 thermal imaging cameras are ergonomically designed, extremely easy-to-use and include an integral high quality LCD touchscreen that allows you to see the smallest details and temperature differences.

Both the thermal imaging camera packs contain a wealth of new features designed to empower scientific researchers. FLIR “industry first" features on the SC650 and SC450 include ‘instant reporting’ on camera, touch screen ‘image sketching’ and Multi Spectral Dynamic Imaging (MSX). FLIR MSX is a unique facility that produces detail rich thermal images enabling thermal anomalies to be more easily detected and analysed.

Depending upon the model, other features include ‘continuous auto-focus’ enabling completely automated operation, 16-bit streaming IR video, picture-in-picture viewing of overlaid thermal and visual images and a WiFi interface for wireless transmission of images to a PC, tablet PC or Smartphone.
