ERACHECK ECO - Ecologically friendly and cost-efficient Oil-in Water Testing
Jan 17 2018
The increasing importance of ecologically-friendly Oil-in-Water-Testers accompanied with the need of sticking to the strict limits of the allowed amounts of oil in water makes it necessary to find methods for an environmental-friendly analysis of Oil-in-Water.
By 2020 all CFC solvents will be forbidden, this is a decision already made 1989 by the Montreal Protocol, due to their harm to the ozone layer. These types of solvents played a fundamental role to measure an important parameter: Oil-in-Water.
The measurement of Oil-in-Water is a critical value to decide whether waste water or discharge water is allowed to be disposed or a further purification of the water is necessary to be safe for the environment. This means further that it is important to meet regulatory limits and comply with defined regulations.
After 1989 the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) switched from the previous IR method ASTM D3921, which used a CFC solvent, to a gravimetrical method called EPA 1664B. In Europe people shifted to gas chromatography using method ISO 9377-2. Both techniques suffer several drawbacks from the IR methods. They are less repeatable or more time consuming.
With ERACHECK ECO eralytics developed an ecologically friendly and economical Oil-in-Water-Tester and is therefore one step ahead. Adding ERACHECK ECO to the eralytics’ product line is an important step towards a cleaner environment.
ERACHECK ECO can literally replace any oil-in-water method with a CFC-free measurement method without requiring intensive maintenance while having a good repeatability.
ERACHECK ECO completely measures without the need for a CFC solvent such a FREON 113.
Not only this: Even more ERACHECK ECO correlates very well to all established methods such as IR (ASTM D7066) and is also environmentally sustainable like GC (ISO 9377-2) or gravimetrical (EPA 1664) methods and this with the CFC-free solvent cyclohexane.
There are two great benefits of the solvent cyclohexane, it does not harm the ozone layer and it is also very cost efficient.
Based on optical high-tech filters ERACHECK ECO Oil-in-Water tester can measure down to a concentration of 0.5 mg/l and a total measurement range up to 1000 mg/L. It is the most economical, eco-friendly and highly precise analyzer available. The measurement process is fully automated, and no evaporation steps which are necessary for the gravimetrical methods are needed. As ERACHECK ECO is a portable analyzer it also eliminates waiting time for off-site results.
Typical applications for the ERACHECK ECO are total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) or total oil and grease (TOG) measurements. It is mainly used to monitor industrial process and waste water, reinjection water, upstream oil recovery monitoring, environmental monitoring of soil and water and layer monitoring during oil-drilling.
Another instrument in the ERACHECK family is the ERACHECK PRO which is suitable also for special applications and reaches even lower limits of detection than ERACHECK ECO. ERACHECK PRO fully complies with ASTM D7678.
ERACHECK ECO and PRO are your instruments of choice to upgrade your oil-in-water testing to the next level in terms of precision, ease of use, measurement speed and ecological friendliness.
