New complete series of magnetic level indicators with 65 years of history to bring a new level of versatility and competition to the oil and gas-related markets

KROHNE has announced the launch for the new BM26A Series of Magnetic Level Indicators (MLI), with the introduction of the BM26A-8000. Designed to meet specific industry needs, the new series replaces the previous generation, offering enhanced versatility and competitiveness.

With a heritage dating back to 1955, the BM26 Series has been one of the most enduring designs of level measurement instruments in the oil, gas and other demanding industries. While maintaining the ruggedness of its predecessor, the new series incorporates an extensive array of options and formerly specialised designs, which are now included as standard.

The BM26A series offers many excellent features and accessories to suit a variety of applications. The BM26A is available in measuring ranges from 0.3 m / 1 ft up to 5.5 m / 18 ft, with the option for customised dimensions upon request. Customers can choose from a selection of accessories and options, including valves, thermal insulation, different materials, limit switches, hazardous area approvals, interface measurements, or designs specifically tailored for extreme operating conditions. The communication options for BM26A range from local indication without an external power supply to optional reed switches, or reed-chain level transmitters, providing both analogue and digital output signals.

The BM26A-8000, designed for redundant level measurement in liquid applications, is available in two versions. The BM26A-8000-TWIN features a double measuring chamber, where one chamber has a flapper indication and the other acts as a bypass chamber equipped with a TDR-guided radar, FMCW radar, or displacer level transmitter. The BM26A-8000-BI version boasts a unique measuring chamber with two compartments, one for the OPTIFLEX 7200 TDR transmitter probe and the other for the float moving adjacent to it.

By integrating a reed-chain transmitter into these assemblies, users can directly compare the measuring values of the assembled radar-level transmitter to those of the reed-chain transmitter in the control room. This redundancy enables both technologies to operate independently and uninfluenced by one another, ensuring a high level of process safety in critical applications.

The BM26A-8000 is an ideal choice for various industries, including storage tanks with dangerous chemicals, separators in the oil and gas sector, steam cycle applications in power plants, as well as a wide range of other level and interface applications. Depending on the selected configuration, the magnetic level indicator can also be used in safety-related applications up to SIL 2/3, providing peace of mind, as well as precision and reliability.
