Gas Detector
World class gas detection solutions to be showcased at ADIPEC
Oct 19 2022
In a few weeks ADIPEC will once again open its doors to an anticipated 150,000 visitors from the oil and gas sectors. Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection will be among the many exhibitors in Abu Dhabi; they will be showcasing their cutting-edge gas detection technology from stand 9413, in Hall 9.
ADIPEC visitors can find out for themselves how Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection’s technology is safeguarding personnel and assets at the vast Hail and Ghasha sour gas project, in development off the UAE coast. Teledyne will show off their hugely successful GD1 hydrogen sulphide laser detector which features their unique customisable laser diode that emits a conical beam of light, rather than the conventional straight line. This wider beam is almost a metre in diameter and capable of penetrating the harsh environmental conditions ubiquitous to the oil and gas sector, providing unparalleled performance. This devise carries out real-time auto-calibration and auto-proof testing, whilst providing an exceptionally high detection rate of 8000 times/sec.
Teledyne will launch Spyglass™, a range of flame detectors offering integrated high-definition CCTV video to enable clear and speedy imaging of fire and people at distances never achieved by a fire detection device until now. When connected to a DVR/NVR, the safety team comprehends the situation precisely before entering hazardous areas.
Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection will also be showing off their GD10P infrared gas detector with full firmware upgrade; this detector provides a high-performance in high demand mode SIL2 approved applications. Compared to other IR gas detectors, the new firmware enhances GD10P’s differentiating factors, including a solid-state infrared source and 15-year warranty.
In addition, despite the shortages affecting the worldwide semiconductor industry, Teledyne have continued to provide business continuity for a vast majority of their products, thanks to their operational excellence and they can still respond rapidly to almost any gas detection requirements. Teledyne recently sold their 100,000th GD10P, a true endorsement of the company’s cutting-edge products and services.
Also on display will be the GD10PE infrared point gas detector, the perfect solution for operators who require quick, dependable and precise low gas concentration detection. The GD10PE has a measuring range of 0-20% LEL and is 5 times more sensitive than standard point detectors.
Teledyne’s range of gas and flame detection instrumentation includes fixed, portable and wireless models along with area monitors. There are times when a combination of solutions is the best solution. This was the case with the huge Hail and Ghasha sour gas development, which will go live in 2024.
Teledyne Gas and Flame Detection were asked to ensure reliable wireless gas detection with around-the-clock availability, so they offered fixed gas detectors connected with a wireless mesh to detect LEL explosive gases and hydrogen sulphide. There is also a second line of defence; using a mesh network of Teledyne’s highly reputable BM25 wireless area monitors. In June 2021, the wireless mesh network featuring independent supervision from field-mounted controllers and remote displays was installed. The BM25 will also be showcased at ADIPEC – along with the wireless CXT detector and the PS200, PS500 and Protégé ZM personal gas monitors. Teledyne will also include the DG MOS detector with Telecapteur asset management and the high temperature SIL 2 DF flame detector on their ‘solution wall’ on their booth.
