New Online Web Demonstration Features Hazardwatch Fire & Gas Detection System
Jun 25 2008
The HazardWatch System delivers intelligence, flexibility and reliability for the monitoring of hazardous environments while meeting the worldâs most demanding safety standards. In less than four minutes,
viewers of the HazardWatch demo will see its complete range of capabilities designed to monitor plants for deadly gas and flame safety hazards.
The HazardWatch controller, hardware configuration and software have been tested and certified by Factory Mutual to verify NFPA 72 compliance. This includes certification for central station monitoring, as both a fire alarm panel and gas controller, for fault tolerant digital communications and as a releasing control panel.
HazardWatch combines a highly reliable programmable logic controller (PLC) platform with General Monitorsâ advanced gas and flame field
devices. It is highly scalable, making it suitable for small systems to large plant-wide applications. Up to 13 local gas and fire alarm panels can operate over a wide network of up to 25 kilometers in length.
Featuring a standalone local fire and gas alarm panel with a color touch screen, HazardWatch is also available with an easy-to-use, human-machine interface (HMI) that is FM approved for central station monitoring. The systemâs optional HazardNet dual media (coaxial cable or fiber optic) fault tolerant communications network supports communication between the local gas and fire panels and optional HazardWatch Central Station with a HazardView Workstation that is AC-powered with UPS back-up.
To interface with DCS and ESD systems, the HazardWatch System supports MODBUS, Ethernet or ControlNet communications. Integration with third party devices such as horns, beacons, smoke detectors and suppression systems is flexible, simple and reliable. HazardWatch comes complete with a power system and battery back-up that complies with NFPA 72
standards.
The HazardWatch System is ideal for a broad range of monitoring applications in demanding industries. It is designed for use in oil/gas production, petrochemical refining, LNG & LPG plants and pipelines, electric power generation, aerospace launch facilities, warehouse and
storage facilities, automotive plants and any industry where hydrocarbon or toxic vapours are a potential threat.
