Peak Scientific Announce Research and Development Expansion into Inverclyde
Feb 01 2018
Riverside Inverclyde (ri), the organisation charged with delivering the economic redevelopment of Inverclyde in the west of Scotland, has concluded an agreement with international life science engineering firm, Peak Scientific, on a five year lease of 2,121 sq ft of space from 19 January 2018 at Kelburn Business Park in Port Glasgow.
Peak Scientific is a leading innovator in the design, manufacture and support of high performance gas generators for analytical laboratories. Established in the UK in 1997, Peak Scientific boasts a significant local presence on every continent – including major operations in North America, China and India.
The company will be utilising the space for a dedicated R&D operation for its world-renowned gas generators within the life sciences and biomedical market. With its headquarters in Inchinnan, Renfrewshire, Peak’s decision to opt for Inverclyde as its R&D hub has been hailed by ri’s CEO, Fiona Maguire.
“To secure such a high-calibre international tenant like Peak Scientific is fantastic news for both ri and Inverclyde. Our development at Kelburn Business Park is paying dividends and attracting a varied range of industries. With a rich engineering heritage in Inverclyde, Peak Scientific is a fantastic fit and a very welcome addition to the area and we should like to wish Peak every success at Kelburn.”
Charlie Street, Facilities Manager at Peak Scientific said: “The need for a stand-alone R&D hub is one that Peak Scientific has been considering for some time. When we viewed Kelburn Business Park, we knew instantly that it was a great facility for our requirements compared to other available locations.
“We are delighted to become part of the Inverclyde business community and would like to thank Riverside Inverclyde for its support in meeting our timescales.”
Andrew Bowman, Head of Business Investment at ri, said: “Scotland’s Life Sciences sector is growing rapidly, with an existing turnover of £4bn and aims to double this by 2025. We believe that Inverclyde is uniquely placed to provide the facilities, infrastructure, transport links and skills required to help deliver this target. With both the Glasgow and Irvine life science districts in close proximity, it is a sector we will be looking to deliver further growth for in Inverclyde.”
Completed in 2015, the eye-catching £4m Kelburn Business Park offers light industrial and office accommodation ranging from 2,120 square feet to 15,564 square feet across four blocks. Block B of the park was sub-divided and fitted out in 2016 with Blocks C and D currently undergoing similar investment, with a number of exciting companies lining up to take occupancy.
ri has also witnessed an increased interest in Block A over the last 3 months. The largest available unit at 15,564 square feet within Kelburn Business Park, it offers potential tenants the opportunity to custom design the space to suit their business needs.
