Can your current viscometer only measure viscosity?

Anton Paar's new SVM™ 3001 Stabinger Viscometer™ is a highly precise viscometer based on the modified Couette measuring principle with an integrated density measuring cell. SVM™ 3001 gives you more parameters than any other kinematic viscometer on the market. A single measuring cycle on a small sample volume yields the following parameters:

  • Kinematic viscosity (ASTM D7042, EN16896, DIN 51659-2)
  • Density (EN ISO 12185, ASTM D4052, IP 365)
  • Dynamic viscosity (ASTM D7042)
  • Viscosity Index (VI) (ISO 2909, ASTM D2270)
  • API Grades (ISO 91, API 2540, ASTM D1250, IP 200)
  • Saybolt viscosity (ASTM D2161).

As SVM™ 3001 comes with an integrated density cell, the density measurement does not need to be carried out separately. One combined measuring cell covers the entire measuring range for viscosity, density and temperature and is filled in one go. Due to its measuring principle, the measurement duration is independent of the viscosity. A minimum sample amount of only 1.5 ml is sufficient for the multi-parameter results according to standards.

SVM™ 3001 has a wide measuring range from -60° to +135°C. As the heating is electrical, no thermal transfer liquids are needed. Peltier elements allow for unparalleled heating rates of up to 20°C per minute. By using the special VI method, temperature changes are performed automatically and the viscosity index is calculated in compliance with ASTM D2270.

Measurement temperatures as low as -20°C can be reached with built-in air cooling. No accessories like external chillers or cooling liquids are required. Measurement temperatures down to -60°C are reached by use of an external cooler with methanol-free coolants such as a water/glycol mixture. With SVM™ 3001, cleaning and drying can be carried out at minus temperatures without heating-up in between.

SVM™ 3001 distinguishes itself by its unbeatable ease of operation: Simply inject the sample via syringe and start the measurement. Multiple parameters will be shown on the 10.4” touch screen. Intuitive display widget shows measurement precision and repeat deviation at a glance.

FillingCheck™ allows for monitoring of the filling quality of the density cell in real time and reliably works for the entire viscosity range and also for opaque samples.

With the state-of-the-art user management, including an audit trail option for a full traceability of your measurement, accounts for all of your users can be created. The storage capacity amounts to one thousand data points. Data export can be conveniently performed via USB storage device, printer or Ethernet.

Productivity is maximised by connecting SVM™ 3001 to an Anton Paar sample changer. The automation option ideally serves all applications requiring high throughput.

The new SVM™ 3001 is designed for testing of various petroleum products from crude oil, lubricating oils to diesel and jet fuels, but also other oily liquids such as vegetable oils and fats.

With SVM™ 3001, you can expect more. Welcome to new viscometry.
