multi EA 5000 from Analytik Jena: Reliable Elemental Analysis of Refinery Samples

For rapid and precise determination of liquids and gases, particularly in the trace range, the use of vertical systems has become standard. With the increase in complexity and viscosity of samples, however, it is necessary to use the horizontal mode. The multi EA® 5000 combines both modes in one and the same device. The double furnace can be quickly set up vertically or horizontally. The use of only one multi-purpose combustion tube for all standard applications makes conversion child’s play.

Unlimited TS Analysis for all Petro Matrices
In case of sulfur analysis, this means to determine sulfur contents over a broad range with just one analysis system, within shortest time, and without effortful sample preparation or system optimization. The sample spectrum includes even very complex matrices. As the quality of results of some samples varies widely depending on the mode, due to their decomposition behavior (VGO, HCR feed, lubricants), the multi EA® 5000 is operated vertically and horizontally for process optimization. Its innovative double furnace technology creates ideal digestion conditions for any organic matrix.

Therefore the multi EA® 5000 perfectly meets the requirements of determination of sulfur in products from the refinement process, such as mineral oil, gases, fuels, heavy oil, bitumen, coke etc.

LPG Analysis – Fast, Easy, Accurate
Do you want to comply with ASTM D 6667 in the easiest, fastest way? With multi EA® 5000 the automated analysis of liquefied pressurized gases such as propane, butane, propylene, and butylene is performed using a revolutionary dosing technique which is extremely precise and sensitive. The freedom to select any dosing volume reduces the analysis time to a necessary minimum and gains maximum sensitivity in ultra-trace analysis.

High-performance Peltier cooling effectively avoids the premature expansion of the sample (bubbles) and a too vigorous, incomplete combustion (soot). Extremely accurate results are now standard in shift labs – independent of sample pressure and element content while the maintenance effort is clearly reduced!

Self Check System – For Profitable Elemental Analysis
In elemental analysis, especially in routine labs with shift work, the quality of results strongly depends on the operator´s qualification. Time-consuming operator trainings, stringent safety, system checks, and frequent preventive maintenance are required. For more efficient work, this unpredictable factor must be eliminated.

The Self Check System (SCS) of multi EA® 5000 is an intelligent combination of hardware components and software functions which automatically prevent faulty analyses and system contamination. Gas flow, temperature, pressure, system tightness, detector stability, required maintenance, combustion quality etc. are checked and regulated by the system. This means easy operation, as well as reliable readings and saves costs and working time.

As an indispensable component for reliable work and safety the multi EA® 5000 SCS offers you:

  • Maximum operating safety with minimum effort
  • Fast analysis, less need for replicate analysis
  • Reliable results, ensured by quantitative digestion
  • Automatic safety check, system deactivation in case of danger
  • Low-maintenance, thanks to fully-automatic process control
  • Robustness of the instrument with a long service life time
