Flexible Sample Adaptor System for i-LAB® Hand Held Analysing Spectrometer
Apr 06 2010
MicrOptix Technologies, LLC (USA) has recently launched a new family of Sample Adaptors for the patented i-LAB® Hand Held Analysing Spectrometer. This new series of i-LAB Sample Adaptors opens up a wide array of
visible and NIR range measurement possibilities for i-LAB users. Along with the conventional cuvette and round vials for liquid measurements, the i-LAB Sample Adaptors also allow the i-LAB to conduct surface colour
measurements on solids. The i-LAB Hand Held Analysing Spectrometer enables users to conduct rapid testing of solid surfaces and liquids in the process plant, the laboratory, and/or in the field.
The i-LAB performs real-time measurement and analysis of liquids and solids in the visible light range from 400–700 nanometers. An NIR version is scheduled to be released in early 2010. The product utilises the
company’s patented, integrated sensing system that enables spectrometer quality measurements in a hand held compact package. The i-LAB is highly energy efficient as it uses LED’s as a light source and is powered by
3 AA batteries. The i-LAB Surface Reader (V255) Adaptor allows for solid surface (reflectance) measurements for solid samples 6mm round and larger. The i-LAB Surface Reader Adaptor can be used to measure solid colors using the CIE L*a*b* colour scale.
The i-LAB Cuvette Adaptor (V220) allows the i-LAB to work with industry standard 10mm square cuvettes. The unique optical design of this i-LAB Sample Adaptor effectively doubles the path length for liquid measurements which increases the i-LAB’s sensitivity. The i-LAB 25mm Round Vial Adaptor (V250) allows users to work with 25mm round glass vials. This adaptor also features a double-pass design that doubles the path length.
The i-LAB package also includes Spectrum Software that gives users the ability to create customised measurement methods for their specific applications.
