Online Oil-in-Water Analyzer
Jan 26 2017
LAR's QuickOIL is an online TOC analyzer for the determination of oil-in-water (OIW). Since oils and fats consist of carbon compounds, TOC analyzers (total organic carbon) are particularly suitable for their reliable detection. In contrast to alternative oil-in-water detectors, that are specialized in the determination of specific oil types, LAR's oil-in-water analyzer determines all types of oils and fats - regardless of whether they are of animal, vegetable, mineral or synthetic origin. Due to the use of the QuickOIL operators avoid investments in several OIW systems.
LAR's online OIW / TOC analyzer works with the high temperature combustion method at 1,200 °C. The high oxidation potential guarantees the complete thermal decomposition of all sample ingredients to CO2. Thus, there is no need for operators to purchase oxidation promoting catalysts. The produced CO2 is measured by a NDIR detector and then, the OIW / TOC value is determined. The innovative process control is characterized by only three wetted parts. Thus, memory- and carry-over effects are avoided and measurement results are determined within a few minutes. In the case of exceeding the alarm threshold, operators may quickly initiate countermeasures protecting downstream plant areas from pollution.
