New low temperature grease flow tester
Jan 13 2020
Koehler Instrument Company, Inc. is excited to announce their newly designed K95300 Low Temperature Flow Tester. This tester has been developed for analysing lubricating greases in low temperature environments. The test is performed in accordance with DIN 51805 (Kesternich) and is also customisable.
The low temperature flow test is an instrument used to determine the flow of pressure of lubricating grease at temperatures as low as -50°C. Due to the unique design of the cooling system, this versatile instrument can cool down in high speed and reach temperatures of -50°C without needing a costly external cooling implement. The core components are in accordance with medical standards to ensure optimal precision and reliability even in very low-pressure ranges. The user-friendly touch screen interface aids in operating and usage of the machine in an expedient and professional manner.
The measurement principle utilises a layer of grease to be tested which is placed on a glass plate devoid of air bubbles. The measuring nozzle is then simply pressed a couple of times onto the layer of lubrication grease until it is filled with grease. The nozzle is then inserted into the thermostatically controlled metal block of the tester and the chamber is air sealed and thermally isolated to ensure the best possible performance. Following the preparation time, the pressure above the sample nozzle is subsequently elevated in increments until a sudden pressure decrease is observed; from this it will be inferred that the grease is pressed through the nozzle. The test is stopped, and the last pressure value is displayed as the flow pressure according to Kesternich. In addition, the grease removal container is installed under the tester and is easy to clean and replace.
Specifications include the following: Conforms to the specifications of DIN 51805; pressure range is 0 to 3.000 mBar; pressure resolution of <1 mBar; temperature range is ambient to -50°C; temperature resolution is <1°C; Touch PLC; Internal Generated Air Pressure; Ethernet Interface; Voltage of 110-230V/ 50-60Hz; Power is 350 W Max.
Software features include the following: A touch screen with integrated PLC which controls the system and facilitates easy adjustment of test parameters and quick setups. Some of the primary functions include the following: Pre-defined pressure settings according to DIN 51805, customized setup is possible; Pre-defined selection of the most used temperatures of free selection is also feasible; Pre-defined increase of time of 30 s or custom; User selectable starting pressure; Help function directly embedded in the HMI; Remote monitoring / Control via app.
