Viscometers to Debut in Frankfurt

Visitors to ACHEMA 2009 (Hall 10.2, Stand F5-F6)  in Frankfurt will be amongst the first to see the new VP250 and VP550 viscometer interface units from Hydramotion Ltd (UK)

These new units complement the proven performance of Hydramotion viscosity measurement transducers, providing reliable real-time measurement of any fluid in any process. Either unit can be used with any of the company’s on-line instruments, including the XL7 process viscometer, the ReactaVisc reaction vessel/pilot-scale viscometer, the ViscoJet compact viscometer and the goVisc laboratory viscometer.

Both the VP250 and the VP550 have clear, easy-to-read displays showing measured viscosity and viscosity corrected to a user-defined reference temperature (e.g. oil industry standard 40°C or 100°C). User-friendly intuitive software offers rapid access to any function or parameter for configuring or updating the system. No programming is required.

The VP250 is a compact unit for applications requiring a simple local display and standard viscosity measurement functions. The four-way "mini-joystick" makes menu navigation quick and easy. Outputs include an analogue 4-20mA output and an RS485 serial data link, or the VP250 can be connected to a PC for datalogging using the company’s ViscoLink software.

Designed for all applications, the VP550 unit is ingress protected to IP68, making it particularly suitable for installation in industrial environments. Again, menu navigation is quick and easy using the simple-to-operate keypad.

The VP550 can accept a wide range of inputs, including temperature, which can be shown in either Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F). The user can select from a range of standard viscosity units including centipoise (cP), pascal-seconds (Pa·s) or centistokes (cSt) as desired. Conversion to other units is also possible.

The VP550 provides three user-selectable 4-20mA analogue outputs, all fully configurable, as well as an RS485 serial data link for remote viscosity monitoring and control. There is also a USB output for direct connection to a PC or laptop.

Simple to hook up and use, either the VP250 or the VP550 provide a highly readable interface for any Hydramotion transducer. The resulting combination is a viscosity measurement system that is robust, reliable, quick to configure and easy to operate.
