CE Award for Liquefied Gas Injector
Feb 19 2013
On February 1, 2013 the Da Vinci Laboratory Solutions (Netherlands) R&D team received the CE award for the design of the Liquefied Gas Injector. The CE award is granted by DARE!! the Dutch consultancy agency that performs measurements and investigations in the framework of CE Marking, FCC and Automotive.
The goal of the CE design award is to highlight the importance of the European directives in the product design. Too often, the CE marking is discussed at the end of the development.
As a result much time and money has to be spent to have the product design comply with the European regulations. In some cases, even a complete redesign is required. By creating the CE Design Award DARE would like to thank the designers.
This is the second award for DVLS Liquefied Gas Injector (LGI). In 2010 the LGI was awarded for the Best New Technology at the Gulf Coast Conference, a U.S. conference on Chemical Analysis Technology associated with the Petrochemical, Refining, and Environmental fields.
Thanks to the unique design the injector is able to inject gases in liquid phase under high pressure directly on-column. The on-column injection allows the analysis of high boiling oily residues in LPG using a GC method and is compatible with standard methods: ASTM D7756-11 and PrEN 16423 for Residues in Liquefied Petroleum (LP) Gases by Gas Chromatography with Liquid, On-Column Injection.
Lenny Kouwenhoven, the Director of R&D, is very proud of this accomplishment: “In 2007 we started to develop the LGI prototype in close cooperation with Shell Global Solutions. Since that time the LGI has been worldwide installed and the method has been standardised by international organisations. Our R&D teams cooperated with Hittech Multin on the engineering part. As a result its unique design has proven to be reliable and innovative. But we do not stop by setting the standard for LPG analysis, we are currently working on more applications for the LGI.”
