Software Released for Administration of FT-NIR Spectrometer Networks

Bruker Optics (USA) today announced the release of the new networking software ONET. The software is a server application accessed via a browser-based web interface (WebUI), allowing to set up, administrate and control a network of FT-NIR instruments from a central remote location anywhere in the world. All data measured on local spectrometers are stored first locally and replicated to a ONET database for central access.

Dr. Joerg-Peter Conzen, Vice President of Bruker Optics, stated: "I am excited about the release of the new networking software ONET, since it now enables mid- and large-size companies to utilise high performance FT-NIR technology without needing to compromise on ease of use for routine operators. With the continuous demands for cost savings, it is virtually impossible to have NIR expertise in every laboratory or production site. With ONET, all calibration methods can be centrally set up and adapted, reducing the need for local expertise and training. Audit trails guarantee the transparency of products, methods and operator interactions, assuring data integrity at all times."

He continued: "Moreover, calibration updates can be rolled out to all instruments inside the company network with a few mouse clicks or specific versions can be assigned to a limited number of spectrometers. This allows setting up a global network with local adjustments if required."

In the meantime, ONET has been sucessfully implemented at multiple international key accounts like New Hope Liuhe Co.Ltd., the largest feed producer in China. Ms. Sui Li, NIR specialist of New Hope Liuhe commented: "We started testing the ONET networking software in February 2014 and received professional support throughout the implementation from Bruker China as well as the Bruker headquarters in Germany. Today, ONET brings us a lot of advantages for managing almost 100 NIR spectrometers, not only for calibration, instrument and operator management, but also for the data management and data security. This allows us to have a more streamlined workflow and a substantial decrease in maintenance expenses. ONET hugely simplifies the management and distribution of NIR calibration models which speeds up the use of NIR applications in a big company like the New Hope Liuhe group."

ONET supports the connection of LIMS to the central data base and is available in English, Chinese, French, German and Spanish. The number of clients in the network is only limited by the performance of the server and the network data transfer rate.
