Fast, Reliable, and Cost-Effective Solutions for Analysing Sulphur, Chlorine, Metals, and More
Sep 17 2024
The petroleum and petrochemical industries face ongoing challenges in optimising operations, ensuring product quality, and complying with regulatory requirements worldwide. While traditional methods are reliable for analysing critical elements, they can be time-consuming and expensive. This is where budget-friendly EDXRF technology could speed up your turnaround times and help streamline your processes.
Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) is a cost-effective technique with low maintenance and running costs, requires minimal-to-no sample prep, and provides rapid, high-quality results. Because of these advantages, EDXRF analysers have become essential tools for many screening and monitoring needs. While other companies offer similar solutions, Rigaku’s EDXRF benchtops stand out due to their multi-element analysis capabilities, allowing you the flexibility and reliability to monitor sulphur, chlorine, metals, and other elements of interest. This benefit replaces the need for multiple single-element instruments, and you can quickly adapt to new applications. Rigaku EDXRF benchtops also rival larger, more expensive systems with their capabilities ranging from ultra-low and trace element concentrations up to percent levels.
From quantifying heavy elements in crude oil to sulphur in fuels to various elements in lubricating oils, Rigaku EDXRF instruments are well-suited for many applications. Benchtops are available at every budget level, and they address a wide range of needs for refineries, contract labs, and R&D facilities.
Rigaku EDXRF Benchtops
NEX QC Series are designed for routine quality control. These are perfect for smaller labs and field applications because they do not require an external computer. Also offered are the advanced NEX DE for high throughput needs, and the powerful NEX CG II Series indirect excitation analysers for higher sensitivity and trace element detection, well-suited for complex applications and research.
Here is a quick comparison of these models, summarising their exceptional versatility to meet ASTM, EPA, and international compliance:
NEX QC Series are well-suited for measuring sulphur in oils per ASTM D4294, sulphur in crude, bunker fuel, nickel and vanadium in crudes per ASTM D8252-19, and other petroleum-related applications. NEX QC Series also offer compliance with ISO 13032 for ULSD and lead in gasoline per ASTM D5059.
NEX DE is ideal for quick ASTM D8252-19 compliance of nickel and vanadium, determining low concentrations of sulphur per ISO 13032, measuring chlorine per ASTM D4929 Part C, and more. You can quickly analyse sulphur, vanadium, iron, and nickel in crude, residual oil, bunker fuels, and other heavy hydrocarbon oils.
NEX CG II Series provide ASTM and international compliance performance to test ULSD and meet Tier 3 gasoline requirements per ASTM D7220. You can analyse manganese in MoGas and AvGas at low and ultra-low levels per ASTM D5059 Part D and easily meet ASTM D5059 Parts C and A compliance using the Bi internal standard method to measure lead in gasoline samples. They also deliver the lowest chlorine detection limits for ASTM D4929 Part C.
Real-time Process Control Solutions
For real-time process control needs, Rigaku also offers NEX XT for total sulphur measurement from 0.04 to 6 wt% of crude, bunker fuel, fuel oils, and other highly viscous hydrocarbons, including residuums. NEX OL, a multi-element analyser, is also offered. It is ideal for monitoring cobalt, manganese, and bromine catalysts in PTA and catalysts in liquid streams.
