New Sample Preparation Method for Determining Salinity in Petrochemicals
Aug 04 2014
Do you want to process all kinds of petrochemical samples? Do you have problems with samples of high viscosity and high water content? Are you looking for a more efficient extraction method? Do you require repeatable and reproducible measuring results? Do you want to substantially reduce your organic solvent usage? If the answer to one or more of these questions is YES, Anton Paar (Austria) has the perfect solution for you:
Multiwave PRO, the master of sample preparation methods, enables microwave-assisted extraction in high pressure vessels. In contrast to conventional methods (ASTM D-6470, D-3230, IP 77/72), the extraction temperatures are not limited to the boiling point of the solvent mixture, which exponentially improves the efficiency of the extraction and significantly reduces process times. Efficient heating and sample agitation enables complete chloride extraction, e.g. of bitumen and crude oil samples with varying viscosities and water contents. The reaction parameters such as temperature and pressure are fully controlled and documented. For maximum safety Multiwave PRO with Rotor 8NXQ80, supplied with eight quartz glass vessels, is capable of simultaneous pressure measurement on all reaction vessels. In this way the rotor proactively detects any pressure increase and takes suitable action to keep it within safe limits. With maximum operating conditions of 300 °C and 80 bar simultaneously, this configuration is suitable for processing the widest range of petrochemical samples.
