New high-temperature rotational viscometer introduced for asphalts, bitumen, hot melts and waxes
Jan 03 2024
Samples that are solid in their aggregate state, such as asphalts and bitumen, need to be heated to higher temperatures for processing. The new ETD 300 from Anton Paar can be used to perform viscosity tests at higher temperatures from 25 °C to 300 °C, fully in compliance compliant with key standards such as ASTM D4402, D3236, AASHTO T316, EN 13302, among others.
Bad reproducibility often occurs when carrying out viscosity measurements with imprecise temperature control. The ETD 300 features a unique T-Ready feature that signals to operators when the sample has reached the requisite temperature, thus ensuring that measurements will always be taken at the precise, correct temperature. Operators can customise measuring methods for automated testing with temperature and/or speed scan steps, simply and intuitively through the ViscoQC display.
The ETD 300 features a ready-to-use ASTM D4402 method; a fully automated and compliant test can be performed without the need for any intervention, saving time and effort. This device also includes magnetic coupling to enable safe and simple spindle attachment or detachment, while automated spindle recognition reduces the probability of an incorrectly selected spindle geometry. The ViscoQC with ETD 300 has a self-centralising measuring set-up, so the spindle and cup are constantly in the same and correct position, for precise and repeatable results every time.
