High Fuel Performance with Tribologically Optimised Additives
Aug 06 2015
Fuel has to meet very high expectations regarding lubricity and wear protection. As films are thin due to the low viscosity of fuels, additives are needed that protect surfaces from wear under disadvantageous conditions like a sudden increase of pressure or a start/stop situation. An efficient way to evaluate the performance of additives under crucial conditions is model tribology testing. MCR tribometers, from Anton Paar (Austria), allow for convenient, fast, precise and highly reproducible measurements. Benefit from superior environmental control with a temperature range from –130 °C to 620 °C and humidity control between 5% and 95% relative humidity. An evaporation blocker and environmental control ensure reproducible and accurate measuring conditions. Determine static friction with unmatched precision to evaluate fuels' start-stop performance. Use the unique possibilities of the ball-on-three-plates setup to evaluate your fuel additives by Stribeck curves, static friction (including break-away torque), or apply specific motion profiles. Reveal the critical regimes where additives perform and for which they require optimisation. A motion control covering 9 decades in speed and deflection allows for determinations of Stribeck curves to reveal static friction and film formation properties in one single measurement. Optimise your additives in accordance with your application needs, saving time and money with model tribology from Anton Paar.
