Sustainable Aviation Fuel
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional aviation fuels derived from fossil sources. SAF is produced from renewable resources and has a significantly lower carbon footprint, making it a crucial component in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the aviation industry.
SAF is typically made from feedstocks such as plant-based oils, waste fats, agricultural residues, and even certain types of algae. These feedstocks undergo various refining processes to create a fuel that can be used in existing aircraft engines without any modifications.
One of the key advantages of SAF is its potential to substantially decrease carbon dioxide emissions compared to conventional jet fuels. SAF can cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% over the entire lifecycle of the fuel, contributing to efforts to combat climate change and reduce the aviation industry's environmental impact.
Promoting the widespread adoption of SAF is a priority for the aviation sector as it aligns with global sustainability goals. Airlines and manufacturers are investing in research and development to increase SAF production and lower its cost, making it more accessible for the aviation industry. In the quest for a greener future, SAF represents a critical step towards sustainable air travel.
