New Generation LEDS Increase Safety & Success
May 23 2011
The new ATEX approved Wolflite XT Handlamp range from Wolf Safety (UK), represents the most significant Safety Handlamp development for over 25 years, and signifies a quantum leap in battery, light and control technology. The recent upgrade to the next generation of high power LEDs means that light output is increased from 200 lumens to 350 lumens, a 75% increase in light output.
The XT-70 with Spot and Flood beams is in use at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Tyne & Wear Fire Rescue Service and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (all UK) as portable ATEX general purpose lighting on vehicles. British Gas Centrica and Shell are just two of the major oil and gas companies now using it for maintenance and inspection purposes.
International sales are also notably increasing with volume sales to Germany’s industrial sector, the fire fighting sectors in France, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland and in the global marine market where the Wolflite XT is used as a firefighting and general purpose handlamp on oil and gas tankers.
The Wolflite XT-90 with additional coloured signal LEDs is utilised in the oil and gas production sector, where it is used with green and red LEDs for helicopter signalling. This model with red and amber LEDs has also been adopted by Vienna Fire Brigade for traffic signalling.
Now eleven times the light output from the previous Wolflite H-251A Handlamp, the Wolflite XT has Spot and Flood beams in the same unit. Its weight is reduced by 30%, battery quality is enhanced using high performance Lithium-Ion batteries and power save mode extends battery duration up to 18 hours. The quick recharge system, three times faster, enables the Lamp to be fully charged from flat in three to four hours.
