Ultra-bright 22"/24"-HMIs for Modern Process Control Systems in Hazardous Areas
Jan 03 2011
Featuring new widescreen displays, the Screen-Tec T-Ex operating and monitoring systems from R. Stahl (Germany) ensure increased plant safety and optimal access to process information in hazardous areas: the HMIs, which are equipped with 22" or 24" displays, provide a resolution of 1,680 x 1,050 or 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. They support the latest versions of process control systems from a wide range of manufacturers. The additional screen space facilitates complex visualisations, e.g. in large-scale plants, and enables the display of additional information – scrolling or switching between pages are therefore no longer required. All T-Ex displays are based on modern LED backlight technology: process images are displayed with a 350 cd/m² luminance and a 1000:1 contrast. The high contrast makes all process information easily and clearly recognisable for users, ensuring that the screen is eye-friendly. T-Ex terminals are ATEX- and IECEx-certified for Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22; further certifications are pending.
The operating and monitoring stations are currently available as remote KVM solutions. KVM over IP, WLAN Thin Client and Embedded PC models will follow shortly. Data transfer is carried out by means of CAT7 or fibre optic cables – the latter allow for maximum distances of 10,000 m. Engineers can save costs by using the plant’s existing wiring. The T-terminals are protected by slim stainless steel enclosures and require little installation space. The keyboard allows for ergonomic, stress-free use: the keyboard/trackball unit and the enclosure’s stainless steel surface form a smooth plane which provides IP66 protection.
