Uninterrupted wireless gas detection for hazardous environments
Feb 13 2012
RAE Systems has revealed a new solar powered solution for wireless gas detection systems that allows 24 hour monitoring of gas in remote exploration sites.
Remote exploration operations require gas detection systems to remain constantly powered, and this new technology provides a stand-alone solar powered solution which meets this task. SolarPak enables the companies Mesh Guard Gas Detection Systems to monitor gas in remote exploration sites around the clock, and is the only solar solution certified for Class I, division I (ATEX Zone 0).
The add-on technology significantly reduces labour and maintenance costs by eliminating the need for expensive trenching and cabling or periodic changing of batteries. It fits with RAE System’s MeshGuard Gas Detection System, which combines advanced gas-detection technology with the latest in wirelessly connected data systems.
Thomas Nègre, RAE Systems vice president of products and marketing, said: "Uninterrupted access to toxic and flammable gas data is critical to health and safety operations in hazardous remote environments. The SolarPak allows us to significantly expand the functionality of our MeshGuard product line by filling a need in the marketplace for a 24/7, intrinsically-safe, remote power supply for use in rugged environments."
