Society of Petroleum Engineers Awards Dr. Heber Cinco-Ley the 2015 SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Legend Award

At the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Hydraulic Fracturing Technical Conference on February 4th, the 2015 Legend of Hydraulic Fracturing Award was given to Dr. Heber Cinco-Ley in recognition for his significant contributions to the technology over a lifetime of work. SPE 2014 President Jeff Spath presented the award to Dr. Cinco-Ley noting his 40-year professional career where he authored more than 100 technical works, was the founding president of the SPE Mexican chapter, received SPE’s Lester C. Uren award, and served in academia and many companies.

Dr. Cinco-Ley accepted the award and graciously thanked his colleagues saying, “I am honoured to receive this award and to have been able to further the field of hydraulic fracturing in the petroleum engineering industry to which I have dedicated my professional life.”

Dr. Cinco-Ley earned his PhD in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University and his bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering and his Master’s Degree in Reservoir Physics Engineering from National Autonomous University of Mexico. His professional experience includes: Researcher and Consultant at the Mexican Petroleum Institute; Reservoir Engineer at Standard Oil Company; Consultant to the United Nations and to the Alamos Scientific Laboratory; Advisor to the Secretary of Energy; and Technical Advisor for the Upstream Area at Petróleos Mexicanos. He has been General Director at: Asesoría y Servicios Petroleros (Petroleum Services and Advising), Peprotec, Aspetrol Testing, and Mexican Petroleum Institute; and Vice President of Production and Development at Pemex Exploration and Production.
