Jun 20 2017
Flow-Cal, Inc. the market leader in measurement data management for natural gas and petroleum liquids, announces that Flow-Cal’s President, Michael Squyres, has been appointed to serve as the President of the Board of Directors for the 2017 ASGMT (American School of Gas Measurement Technology). ASGMT is the largest gas measurement school in the United States devoted to natural gas and natural gas liquid measurement, pressure regulation, flow control and other measurement related arenas.
Squyres has served on the General Committee for 20 years and on the Board of Directors since 2013. During his tenure on the board, Squyres has been instrumental in a number of growth initiatives. Since 2013, ASGMT expanded their curriculum to introduce a track dedicated to natural gas liquids (NGLs), achieved record turnout by hosting over 1,200 attendees, and celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Additionally during this time, ASGMT formed a special training track on Gas Flow Measurement Fundamentals. This new curriculum is customized specifically for ASGMT to offer a flow measurement certification for field and office personnel.
“I’m honored to serve as the President for this year’s school,” said Michael Squyres, Flow-Cal’s President. “As one of the premier hydrocarbon measurement schools in the country, it’s been our focus to expand the curriculum to keep pace with the exciting changes going on in our industry. It’s rewarding to see all we’ve accomplished in just a few short years.”
Squyres and his company, Flow-Cal, have been active supporters of ASGMT for over 20 years. Flow-Cal’s subject matter experts lead multiple hands-on courses, classroom lectures, and participate in the industry exhibits. In addition to his commitment to the board and committee, Squyres also serves as an instructor at the annual measurement school.
Squyres is an innovator in the field of hydrocarbon measurement with nearly 30 years of experience in designing and developing measurement software applications. As the President of Flow-Cal, Inc., he has worked directly with SCADA vendors, meter manufacturers and standards organizations to pioneer better ways to validate, calculate and report measurement data. He is an active and voting member of the American Petroleum Institute (API) where he participates in a number of their standards initiatives. Squyres has provided consulting services for domestic and international measurement applications, both gas and liquids. He is directly involved in the identification and development of specialty applications serving producers, midstream, pipeline and distribution companies.
