Advanced Flow Meter Solutions Presented at Rio Oil & Gas Expo and ADIPEC
Sep 01 2012
Engineers in search of flow measurement solutions for oil and gas production environments will want to stop by McCrometer (USA) exhibits at two of the industry’s biggest shows this year. McCrometer will present its proven oil and gas flow meter technology at ADIPEC 2012 in Hall 1, Stall 1090 with The Kanoo Group and at the 2012 Rio Oil & Gas Expo in Pavilion 4, Booth U47 with Hirsa Sistemas de Automacao e Controle Ltda.
Space- and weight-constrained oil and gas production environments including subsea modules, offshore platforms, FPSO Vessels, Mounted Modules and Wellheads necessitate flow meters that can maintain accuracy under rugged, crowded, high pressure conditions. Already cramped installations are further complicated by the extensive straight pipe runs required by most flow meter measurement technologies to condition fluid for measurement accuracy and repeatability.
McCrometer’s exhibits at the ADIPEC and Rio exhibitions will include flow meter demos, tutorials, our Oil/Gas Resource Guide CD and complimentary Flow Meter Evaluations. Visitors will have the chance to learn more about the versatile, space- and weight-saving V-Cone Flow Meter and highly scalable Wafer-Cone Flow Meter, which have met the challenges of the oil and gas industry for decades.
Featuring advanced dP technology, McCrometer’s V-Cone Flow Meter offers built-in flow conditioning that is designed to reduce the upstream/downstream straight pipe run required by Orifice Plates and Venturi Tubes by up to 70 percent. This significant reduction in pipe requirements adds up to cost savings in materials and installation labour.
The V-Cone provides a stable flow profile for reliable measurement, featuring accuracy of ±0.5% of actual flow and repeatability of ±0.1% over the entire range. It is ideal for the measurement of liquid, steam or gas and is available for line sizes from 0.5 to 120 inches, with an unmatched 10:1 turndown ratio for wide range-ability. Its no-moving-parts design provides an extremely rugged instrument with virtually no maintenance required over a long life.
The highly scalable Wafer-Cone Flow Meter is ideal for small line processes in line sizes from 1 to 6 inches. Like the V-Cone, self-conditioning means little or no upstream or downstream piping runs are required. The economical Wafer-Cone can be installed virtually anywhere in a piping system or be easily retrofit into an existing piping layout, making it ideal for retrofits as well as reducing the cost of new installations.
