Flow Level Pressure
New High-Sensitivity Online Viscometer for Low Viscosities
Jul 11 2011
Hydramotion Ltd (UK) has released a new model in its series of online viscometers for the accurate measurement and control of low and very low viscosities. Building on the extensive field-proven capabilities of higher-range models, the latest XL7-106 is especially suitable for applications calling for high sensitivity at fluid viscosities below 100 cP.
The unique design of the XL7 sensor results in superior performance, excellent repeatability and high accuracy, irrespective of positioning or orientation, plant noise or changing operating conditions such as pressure or flow rate, guaranteeing highest process flexibility.
The instruments have a robust IP68 weatherproof housing and are available with IEC Ex certification for use in hazardous areas (ATEX Cat.1 Zone 0). With no moving parts and no need for the user to recalibrate the instrument, the XL7 offers virtually maintenance-free operation, thus constituting state-of-the-art viscosity control at minimal operating cost.
The associated VP550 signal processor/readout unit features state-of-the-art digital technology, offering standard analogue and RS485 communication, an optional USB interface and additional functions such as volt-free alarm contacts. The instrument accepts both fluid temperature and density as secondary digital inputs and incorporates temperature-correction software for calculation of referenced viscosity.
Typical applications include analytical installations, pilot plant, wastewater treatment, semiconductor and fuel cell processing, food and pharmaceutical industries, surface technology and anywhere requiring direct viscosity measurement, whatever the process conditions.
