In the Hydrocarbon Processing Industry, crude assays are routinely used to determine detailed crude oil characteristics. This data is then used to optimize blending and distillation processes to maximize final product quality and product value within specifications. In these assays, the crude material is fractionated on boiling point and each fraction is tested in the lab for an extensive set of parameters. Sulphur content and distribution are some of the most critical parameters that drive final product cut points and affect product value.

The CNS SIMDIS is able to perform crude assays for a wide variety of crude oil and products, including everything from heavy gas oils to naphtha.
